Baoding Balls

These Baoding Balls are made from hollow spheres with a chime and decorated on the outside in a variety of designs and colours. Baoding Balls are used as an exercise tool or meditation by rotating the two balls in the palm of your hand. They are known by many different names, Exercise Balls, Chime Balls, Therapy Balls, Stress Ball or Meditation Balls.

Originally said to have be made from solid iron and originated in Baoding, China, and are thought to have been first created during the Ming Dynasty. Most Baoding Balls are now made from hollow spheres, though for exercise purposes ones of solid iron or steel should be used.

In Chinese alternative medicine they are belived to interact with the accupunture points on the hand, which are sometimes known as meridians or jingluo in Chinese medicine. The rotating of the baoding balls stimulates the finger nerves and pressure points and is believed to reduce worry, tiredness, preventing and reducing high blood pressure, arthritis and hand tremors.
